Lion seen in the fields of the Nambiti Game Reserve. Our group had been traveling all day via truck to track the game in the reserve and insure all animals were accounted for and were safe from poachers. We first started off in the early hours of the day tracking the lions to make sure they were safe and accounted for first. On that trip, I managed to snap a photo of the lion popping their head out of the grass for a quick look before they lay back down out of sight.

On my trip to South Africa in July of 2024, I took this photo of this very selfless woman. We (the group I was traveling with around South Africa) visited her house in South Africa where she had cooked a traditional Zulu meal for all of us. In the photo she is holding a hat that she is knitting together to sell. The hat is made out of plastic bags which she obtained from trash on the side of roads/ litter. She would make hundreds of these hats and sell them to groups like ours to raise awareness about recycling and keeping the planet a clean place for all.

Will got nominated as one of the students that best represent what it means to be a Bell (at Bellarmine College Preparatory). To represent his commitment he got a whole spread in the yearbook for himself in the Blue Standard section. I got the opportunity to do a photoshoot for Will where he wanted to represent his Tonga heritage and culture by dressing in a traditional Tonga clothing and waving the Tonga flag. I took this photo at Natural Bridges, California on January 29th 2024 after sunset.

The immense Solheimajokull Glacier, its surface lined with silt that tells the story of melting ice and a changing landscape. Tiny hikers cross its surface, their small figures highlighting the glacier’s vast scale and quiet power. The glacier’s blue ice glows under the cold light, emphasizing its otherworldly beauty and fragility. This image was created while I attended GoBeyond’s “Inspiring Iceland” service abroad trip.

The iconic Torii Gate of Itsukushima Shrine rises from the water, marking the threshold from the everyday to the sacred. A boat glides beneath it, symbolizing the passage into this spiritual space. Warm oranges of the gate transition into the cooler blues, which highlight the transition in color temperature in the portfolio.

Above Donner Lake, stars trace arcs across the night sky, revealing the Earth’s rotation, while Truckee glows softly in the distance. Car lights wind along the roads below, highlighting the movement toward the lake. The scene emphasizes scale and perspective, allowing reflection on the passage of time and the rhythms of both human and celestial movement. This image was created for my Time & Motion assignment in Digital Photography 2.
